"Inhumans Special" #1

Continuing "Inhuman Error", written by Jeff Loveness and line art by Ryan Lee, this issue gives you the back to Red Raven as already known from Marvel's golden age and then today in context of this story. How did the hero become the villain?

X-TINCTION AGENDA - REVISITED

Once upon a time, I had a personal subscription to UNCANNY X-MEN. I was a huge fan. UNCANNY X-MEN is what got me really into comics in my teenage years. Happily, I paid for 12 issues. Disappointingly, I received maybe half of them. The subscription was so unreliable I ended up buying the same issues from my comic shop. As it turns out, one of those issues was UNCANNY X-MEN #270, "X-Tinction Agenda" #1. So I have two copies of the original issue. The one on the left is the one I got from my comic shop. The one on the right is the one I received in the mail from my Marvel subscription. It's still sealed. Still has the mailer sheet. Pretty cool.

And I have all of the UNCANNY X-MEN and X-FACTOR "X-Tinction Agenda" issues. I know if I dug in my long boxes more I'd find the New Mutants issues too.

But why this post? Because today I am a Marvel colorist and today I started working on this.

Pretty fucking cool.

"Marvel Zombies" #1 Variant Cover

Here's a cover Greg Land drew and I colored as a variant for Secret Wars/Battleworld "Marvel Zombies" #1. I cannot stomach zombies (it's the eating-them-alive-cannibalism) but they are sure fun to color.

"The Avengers Ultron Forever" #1 Variant Cover

Here's a cover Greg Land drew and I colored as a variant to "The Avengers Ultron Forever" #1 for Cape Comic Con. Bringing back the classic Avengers!

"Grindhouse: Blood Lagoon" #2

AKA "Grindhouse" #4 as it's a part of Dark Horse's Grindhouse series. Written by Alex de Campi and line art by Chris Peterson! I'm back on the color.

In my last post on "Blood Lagoon" I mentioned the heart Alex has so skillfully placed at the core of this story. These first few pages just erupt with that heart. This is one of the most powerful scenes I've ever been honored to color. Wayne, a gay man, has gone home to visit his homophobic dad in his home state of Alabama to tell him some news. If you know anything about recent rulings about gay rights in Alabama, this scene is very topical and smacks of an honest, verbal whipping people like Wayne's dad deserve. It's so good. It's damn good. While I do not post up lettered versions of pages so my color can be seen, you can read a lettered preview here. Check it out then go buy "Blood Lagoon"!

"Grindhouse: Blood Lagoon" #1

AKA "Grindhouse" #3 because it's a part of Dark Horse's Grindhouse series. Written by Alex de Campi and line art by Chris Peterson! I'm on color, as if that needed clarification.

This new chapter of Garcia was originally plotted by Chris and I over a Facebook post. We came up with some silly ideas and just ran with it. Alex, to her great credit, made our crazy work and then gave it heart. Lots of heart. Some of the best in any comic I've ever worked on. So please check out Garcia and Wayne from "Bee Vixens" in this new two-part story "Blood Lagoon"!
